It’s time to get it AWN!
Okay, so CJ’s got his little plan…but come on, he’s never gonna win when he’s up against the B-Roqq. I’m all about the technology and the edumacation, and I’m motivated like a MOTHER!
So here’s my plan.
Diet - I’ve read The Metabolism Advantage, and I’ve been half heartedly following it for a few months now, but it’s time to buckle down. There are no bad foods, there’s just bad times to eat certain foods. With that in mind I’m going to eat a high protein, relatively low carb, lower fat diet. I’m gonna stick with lean proteins, and a lotta supplements.
I take 4000mg of Fish Oil every day right now (with a combined 2000mg of EPH and DPH), 1 scoop of Vegegreens every day, and usually a good Casein protein shake once a day. I’m also supplementing with Whey protein on my workout days.
Exercise – I’m going to do a 4 week “shock course” of Starting Strength 3 times a week (I’ll post my workout here later this week), and combine that with at least 20 minutes of cardio 3 days a week.
My aim is to increase that to about an hour of cardio 3 times a week (probably with a spinning class and a couple of runs).
I work out at a gym early in the mornings…because I’m not an animal and don’t need to keep weights around my home (and also because there’s no room).
In terms of technology. I’m an Excel and paper guy. I have a pretty detailed log that I keep on an excel sheet, and I track my progress from workout to workout, increasing my weight by 5lbs every workout.
At the end of the 4 weeks, I’m going to move to a different workout plan, and I’m going to incorporate a lot of core training principles as I want to increase my flexibility and keep myself injury free (which is important for us old guys).

Starting Strength is a great place to, well, start. After that, I can send you some workouts that are called ‘metabolic’ workouts. They’re still weights, but they’ll KICK your ass. Burn a ton of calories, and prevent any loss of muscle while in a negative energy zone.
